Workshops: Career and Calculation

The SDBI workshops “Career and Calculation” have been a tradition since 2007. For the first time SDBI will also offer workshops on the topic of job application. Experienced designers discuss how they made their career and what they expect from application portfolio today.

What should be the primary elements of a portfolio: photography, working process, technical drawings, fashion illustrations? How many independent projects? How elaborate or extensive should the portfolio be? Paper or digital? In what language? What are the required standards? And: who is part of the decision process? What are HR departments looking for?

One thing is clear, there is no single answer. Therefore SDBI is pleased to have been able to invite a wide variety of designers as presenters, among them Frauke Buschmeyer (Head of Design Lala Berlin), Clemens Deilmann (Head of Design Gore Bike Wear) Markus Freitag (Freitag bags), Marcel Herrig (Unicut Design Limited, Shenzhen, China), Torsten Hochstetter (Creative Director O’Neill Europe) and Michael Sontag (Designer, Berlin).

Please bring your portfolio to the workshop. If you wish to present it in digital form, please also bring your notebook, tablet, etc. There will be group discussions, and you will also have the opportunity for a brief individual meeting.

In addition, as announced earlier, there will be two workshops with the trade association Allianz Deutscher Designer (AGD) covering the successful launch as independent designer and how to best calculate one’s services in (only in german).

Register for all workshops at mail@sdbi.de

The participation in all workshops is free of charge. All you need is a ticket to ISPO MUNICH 2013.
