FASH 2020 / 30. March 2020
As a small sign of hope and trust in the power of creativity, the European Fashion Award FASH will also be presented this year. There are, of course, more important tasks at the moment. This is why we cordially invite those who have the time to participate in FASH 2020. In this way, we will be enabled to honour the works created last year and to have an exchange take place.
If necessary, the announcements and events will be adapted to the needs of the pandemic, even if we will have to resort to a purely digital realization in the end.
If necessary, the announcements and events will be adapted to the needs of the pandemic, up to a purely digital realisation. The motif of the FASH 2020 was created by the fashion designer and illustrator Cem Bora, the graphics were created by the Berlin agency Kemmler & Kemmler. The motif stands for get started, hands on and the pragmatic.
The European Fashion Award FASH 2020 is endowed with 5,000 euros, the special award workwear with 1,000 euros. In addition, up to 20 finalist receive extensive support: portfolio consulting, applicant training and workshops with top-class experts.
Special Award Workwear
New is the special award Workwear, which is sponsored by the engelbert strauss company. “Workwear is textile engineering, we use the most modern materials and the latest processing technologies. This is an exciting field for young designers,” says Henning Strauss. In addition to designers, also students and graduates (from May 1, 2019) from the fields of garment technology, product development or design engineering can apply for the special award Workwear. Joachim Schirrmacher, Director of SDBI, is pleased to win engelbert strauss for the cooperation. “The company stands for an exemplary process of renewal that can have an impact on the entire industry.”
Participants from all over Europe
The Europe-wide competition is aimed at particularly talented students from all design disciplines in the three categories of students, bachelor and master. Applications are submitted with a portfolio of previous projects and a letter of motivation (PDF). For the special award Workwear, a design sketch is also required. The jury selects up to 20 participants. Details on the jury will follow in the coming weeks via FASH.berlin and Instagram. The registration is online as of today on FASH.berlin. The closing date for registration is April 27th and for submissions 3 May 3rd, 2020.
By creatives for creatives
The European Fashion Award FASH is supported by engelbert strauss and our partners 25hours Hotels, Formes, Hering Berlin, Kemmler & Kemmler, Messe München, Pieper Hangers and Vitra. But FASH lives above all through private commitment: be it in the jury or the organization. The prize for the young creatives is thus largely supported by experienced creatives.
SDBI – Promoting Fashion Talents since 1978
The European Fashion Award FASH is one of the most important international awards for fashion students. Its aim is to promote young designers by introducing them to the world of business and industry. The European Fashion Award FASH is offered by the non-profit foundation Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie (German Fashion Industry Foundation), SDBI for short. Founded in 1978, the SDBI is the world’s oldest organization for the promotion of fashion students.
The award winners talents have excellent career prospects. More than 40 talents work, some in leading positions, for such internationally renowned companies as Adidas, Alpha Tauri, Hugo Boss, Maison Margiela, Dorothee Schumacher, Vivienne Westwood or teach at a university.
