Attitude
The task is to design clothing in tune with the environment and social conditions, which provide expression to both aesthetic and ethical attitudes. The topic should be analyzed to its fullest extent and integrate interaction between the different aspects. Submissions can range from relevant partial solutions all the way to realistic visions and even post-industrial strategies. Because sustainable solutions require a lot of knowledge about the environment, interdisciplinary submissions are expressly requested.

1st Part: Analysis
The first part of the work to be submitted will consist of an independent analysis of the manufacturing of fashion and/or of the market for ecologically and socially responsible clothing.
Due to the diversity of the subject matter with its partly antithetic requirements, a personal point of view should be worked out and explained.
The analysis has to be supplemented by personal observations and photos. The personal analysis has to be founded on research of related publications such as market surveys, books and essays.

2nd Part: Conception
Based on the analysis, the design has to conceived under the topic “attitude”.
We are looking for ambitious designs, i.e., independent and coherent ones, but which are marketable (which doesn’t mean following trends).
Therefore the conception, the planning and the reflexion of social and commercial, cultural and political processes as well as the consideration of ecological and technical facts is required.

3rd Part: Design
Based on the concept, the third part of the task will be to translate it into a collection of at least four outfits. One outfit has to be sent in for judging by the jury. The prize winners obligate themselves to manufacture the other outfits by 25 January 2008 and bring them to the award ceremony in Munich. The whole collection will be exhibited.
The choice of segment (business, leisure or sportswear) and genre is free. Additional accessories are possible. The choice whether the design consists of womenswear, menswear or a complete collection is based on the analysis and therefore free. There is no seasonal restriction.
Theoretical works, which show relevant partial solutions or post-industrial strategies, are possible alternatively due to the subject matter. Their extent should be in appropriate relation to the effort of the fashion design. You should consider the fact that theoretical works are difficult to present at an award ceremony. Therefore, we recommend producing a sample or collaboration with other designers.
